In this simple walkthrough, I’m going to show you how to use the Garmin Vivosmart HR with the Runtastic App on an ANT+ compatible Android Device. My device, the Oneplus One, isn’t on this list but does support ANT+, so make sure to check the specs of your phone.
- Install ANT+ Plugins Service and ANT Radio Service on your mobile phone.
- Push on the button of your Garmin Vivosmart HR and scroll to the third page. Then press the settings button. Then scroll until you see the Heart Rate option and tap on the screen. Then scroll to the Broadcast Option and tap on the screen again. Then confirm the Start Broadcasting by tapping on the V. You’re now in broadcasting mode.
- Open Runtastic on your phone and go to the settings page. Scroll down and tap on Heart rate. Tap on ANT+. A few seconds later, the status will show connected and current heart rate will shown the same value as your Garmin device. Check the auto connect option, so you don’t have to perform this action anymore.
The next time you want to go out for a run, you only have to perform step 2 before you open Runtastic.
It took me 1 month to figure this out, because I couldn’t find any tutorial. Hope this will help you.
